Spec Work for Event Branding Proposal

When Capital Pride put out an RFP for an agency to help them with the branding and marketing for DC 2020 Pride, we knew we were going to jump on it. The challenge? Our agency has historically been known for websites and branding work – marketing is a new capability for us, and our past performance was limited.

We put it all on the table and pitched a concept and art direction for the event right in the proposal – and hand-delivered a hard copy while we were at it. We wanted to honor and celebrate all of the diverse experiences that make up what is means to be queer – from big moments like protesting outside the Supreme Court, to the small, quiet moments, like holding a partner’s hand. 

The Theme

 

OUR MOMENT celebrates all that it means to be queer, all year round. The concept gives us the flexibility to allow Pride participants to fill in the blank with whatever that means to them.

The Visuals

 

The visual motif of the instant photograph allows real images of the queer community to take center stage, and is a subtle nod to the first Capital Pride event in the 1970’s.
